Eric Bischoff reflects on his conversations with Hulk Hogan in the weeks before his passing.
On the latest episode of 83 Weeks, the WWE Hall of Famer spoke about his recent conversations with Hulk Hogan ahead of his untimely passing last week. Bischoff believed he sounded weak and tired, but still was eager to get things moving with their new promotion, Real American Freestyle.
“I got on my phone, and I could tell he was weak,” Eric Bischoff said. “He sounded tired. But he still had that ‘Brother, what are we going to do next?’ kind of underlying current of energy in his voice, even though he sounded tired, even though he sounded weak. He still had that ‘Brother, what’s going on with Real American Freestyle? Where we at? Have you talked to Kurt [Angle]?’ You know, that type of thing. Checking up on me to make sure I was on top of my s**t.”
Hogan was anxious to get back to work
Bischoff also detailed their last exchange where Hogan was so eager to get back to work, he was willing to do phone interviews for Real American Freestyle, as he didn’t believe he was up to appearing on camera.
“I said ‘I’ll tell you what,'” Bischoff continued. “‘I’m going to call over the chat. There’s some things that we’ll see if we can get you on and get you on some interviews.’ Now I knew damn good and well, and then, obviously, I didn’t know what was going to happen, but I knew it was going to be quite a while before he was ready to do interviews.
“He knew it too. But he said ‘Brother, I can’t wait. I may not be able to do anything on camera for a couple of weeks.’ But he said, ‘I’ll be good on the phone. So you can set some stuff up for me on the phone.’ He was so anxious to get back to work.” [H/T: Wrestling Inc.]
