NXT Star Gets Criticized For Pretending He Is Deaf

Lexis King is immersing himself in an alternate POV.

Two weeks ago, Myles Borne defeated Lexis King on NXT, courtesy of a reverse bulldog. Since then, King has seemingly taken the loss personally, so much so that he’s pretending to be deaf.

Borne, of course, survived persistent pulmonary hypertension as a newborn. The treatment for it, however, impacted his hearing, resulting in partial deafness.

Last week on NXT, King was seen walking in the background of a segment involving NXT Tag Team Champions Hank and Tank. On his head were noise-cancelling headphones, which he seemingly used to test against the sound of a rattling door chain. This week, King sat amongst the crowd in the WWE Performance Center, with the same noise-cancelling headphones covering his ears.

When WWE NXT General Manager Ava confronted King, he initially didn’t hear her. That quickly changed when she yanked the headphones off of him and scolded him for pretending to be deaf. To this, King appeared to be confused as he could then be heard asking, “What do you mean?”

As of this writing, there is no word on whether a rematch between King and Borne will be ordered by Ava. Nevertheless, King seems to now be preparing himself to see things from Borne’s perspective, just in case.
