TNA star Matt Hardy believes he and his brother Jeff could return to WWE for one final run.
Back in March, The Hardy Boyz showed up on WWE TV on the NXT Roadblock special. They defended the TNA World Tag Team titles against NXT Tag Team Champions Fraxiom.
After that appearance, WWE released new Hardy Boyz merchandise, which sparked talk about a possible comeback. Reports indicated that the WWE creative team discussed the Hardy Boyz internally, with a potential main roster run on the table.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Matt Hardy said he and Jeff are open to returning. He also mentioned they hope to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
“Maybe so. I think we do want to do the WWE Hall of Fame. I think we would like maybe one last hurrah with WWE, and that could even be possible while working with TNA too, so we’ll see. It would be nice to still have the most limited schedule we could have, which could optimise how much time we could spend at home with our families and our kids. Everything is kind of up in the air right now, we both feel good and I think we’re gonna rock and roll as long as we feel like we can do it.”
Matt confirmed that WWE offered Jeff a solo Hall of Fame induction while he was working in AEW. He said, “Yes, Jeff was [offered a solo Hall of Fame induction]. [I wasn’t contacted] because I worked at AEW at the time. I mean yeah, we’ll definitely do the Hall of Fame one day. I’m not in a rush.” Jeff added, “I was thinking 2030.”
Helwani then asked about why Jeff Hardy turned down the WWE Hall of Fame induction. Jeff explained it just didn’t feel right to accept the honor without his brother.
“It just felt weird, it didn’t feel right. It just didn’t feel right going in without Matt. Just in the moment, [that’s] how I felt. [They said] ‘Ok. Good luck in your future endeavors’. [H/T: Wrestletalk]
