There’s a new championship ship in AEW, and two big stars will fighting for it soon.
During tonight’s AEW Summer Blockbuster, All Elite Wrestling unveiled the AEW Unified Championship. The belt combines both the AEW International Championship and AEW Continental Championship. As a result, Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada will meet at AEW All In to crown a new, unified champion.
The two men were in the ring when the new belt was shown off, and signed a contract to solidify their match. Things got pretty chaotic after that, though, as Don Callis interrupted the signing at Summer Blockbuster. He and Omega jawed back and forth for a bit about Konosuke Takeshita being deserving of a spot int he match.
Omega said he knew all of Callis’ tricks, to which Don said he didn’t know all of them, and Okada suddenly attacked Omega. Okada began attacking Omega with a police baton, hitting him in the abdomen repeatedly. As Omega was being placed on a stretcher, Okada hit an elbow drop on him, causing Omega to cough up blood.
