Baron Corbin, now going by Bishop Dyer, says current WWE leadership lacks the emotional connection that Vince McMahon once had with longtime talent.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bishop Dyer criticized recent roster cuts including the release of R-Truth by saying the company no longer values loyalty. “Say what you want about Vince, Vince cared about his talent and he cared about the fans. Everything else in his life is his business and whatever he’s dealing with.
“Guys like Taker, someone who’s been loyal. When you watch Vince talk about Taker, he starts crying because he loves him and his loyalty. R-Truth has been nothing but loyal, he’s done everything that’s ever been asked. He’s gotten everything to work, even some shit that’s really questionable over the years, he’s made very entertaining. I think if you’re sitting in that locker room, you have to realize, ‘Oh shit, if I’m not on TV for a month, it could be me next.’ I think for the locker room, they’re gonna come to a harsh realization that loyalty no longer matters. I think that it has become what the NFL a little bit is, a paper league, in my opinion, where it’s no longer about the person, it’s about what’s on paper.” [H/T: Wrestletalk]
In May 2025, WWE released several talents from both its main roster and NXT. Last week, R-Truth’s reported release led to fans reacted strongly throughout the week.
Bishop Dyer calls out WWE for pulling Bayley from WWE WrestleMania 41
Just days before WrestleMania 41, Bayley was pulled from her scheduled tag title match after a backstage attack angle. Originally set to team with Lyra Valkyria, Bayley was replaced by a returning Becky Lynch, who helped capture the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles. This decision saw backlash from fans and drew strong criticism from former WWE star Bishop Dyer.
“I’ve had a few days to kind of calm down because it made me extremely angry… F*ck you, that’s my sentiment. I mean, to do it to Bayley of all people. Someone who’s been there through COVID…has made lemonade out of dogshit repeatedly…is a model f*cking employee.
“I don’t give a shit if she knew the storyline [ahead of time]. Please, do all this, take all these bumps, work your ass off, and two days before we’re gonna replace you…And I know Bayley’s going to be fine…but that is a moment and it is bullshit all the way through.
“She didn’t get to be on WrestleMania. She went down to NXT, elevated talent…does everything you’ve asked of her… Bayley deserved to be on WrestleMania…It is insane to me that you take that moment away.”
