Dave Bautista believes the Hollywood grind is easy compared to the WWE grind.
Dave Bautista (aka Batista) spent nearly a decade as a full-time WWE main roster star from 2002 to 2010. He became one of the standout names of the Ruthless Aggression Era. After a brief return in 2014, he officially wrapped up his professional wrestling career against Triple H at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.
Since stepping away from the ring, Bautista has successfully transitioned into Hollywood. He notably portrayed Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. He also appeared in major films like Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Army of the Dead, and Dune.
Dave Bautista recently opened up about the stark contrast between life as a WWE Superstar and working in Hollywood. While promoting his latest film, In the Lost Lands, in an interview with Film Inside, he credited the physically and mentally demanding schedule of WWE for giving him the strong work ethic he carries into every film set.
“I think more than anything, I have a strong work ethic. And my work ethic really came from the WWE. WWE, if nothing else, they’re not only durable people, but it’s just the hardest grind that I could ever imagine. Being in Hollywood and being on a film set, it’s long hours, but compared to the grind of being a professional wrestler, it’s a cakewalk. It’s night and day. So it’s just not — I’m in this business, and I find it hard to relate to people who are just always unhappy on set and always complaining about something. It doesn’t — I don’t relate to that at all.”
Bautista closed by saying he believes his childhood upbringing and knowing what it’s like to not have anything is why he has such a positive outlook on things. Hollywood is not a grind to him; he’s happy and grateful to be there earning opportunities for himself.
