AEW Dynamite Results:

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite kicks off with tag team action as Will Ospreay and Hangman Page take on the Don Callis Family.

Will Ospreay and Hangman Page vs. Konosuke Takeshita and Josh Alexander (w/ Don Callis)

  • The finish of the match saw Hangman Page and Will Ospreay hit a combination Buckshot Lariat and Hidden Blade on Josh Alexander. Page scored the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: Will Ospreay and Hangman Page

After the match, Takeshita attacked Page and Ospreay, which saw Alexander also get involved. More accidental contact between Page and Ospreay heading into Double or Nothing.

Grade: A-

I’m not typically a big fan of the whole “can they co-exist” tag team match trope, but they executed this one about as good as you possibly can without crossing over the line with it. The match itself was an excellent way to kick off tonight’s show. I have little doubt that Page and Ospreay are going to have an awesome match together at Double or Nothing.

A video package airs hyping tonight’s main event between Jon Moxley and Samoa Joe.

Top Flight send a warning to MJF

Top Flight and Leila Grey are backstage with Alicia Atout. Dante Martin screams at MJF for attacking them last week and makes it clear to stay out of their business. Top Flight will face The Hurt Syndicate later tonight. They are approached by Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara, who wish them luck in tonight’s match.

Ricochet vs. Zach Gowen

  • The finish of the match saw Ricochet hit Zach Gowen with the Spirit Gun to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Ricochet

After the match, Ricochet continued to attack Gowen until Mark Briscoe came out to run Ricochet off.

Grade: B+

This was a really fun match. Zach Gowen proved that he can still go in 2025, and Ricochet continued to tap into his heel character and take it to another level. This was good stuff!

MJF will get his answer tonight, but he’s probably not going to like it

MJF is backstage with Renee Paquette. Friedman says he wants to be AEW World Champion again, but to do that, he needs help because he doesn’t want to work hard. MJF says if he becomes a member of The Hurt Syndicate, they will be unstoppable. Renee questions what might happen if The Hurt Syndicate says no, this brings the trio in, and MVP tells MJF that it’s imperative he meets them in the ring after their match.

The Hurt Syndicate (w/ MVP) vs. Top Flight (w/ Leila Grey)

  • The finish of the match saw Bobby Lashley put Dante Martin in the Hurt Lock to win the match via submission.

Winners: The Hurt Syndicate

After the match, Lashley wouldn’t let go of The Hurt Lock until Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara came out. Dustin Rhodes implies they want to do a title-for-title match. Before MVP can reply, The Cru come out and run down Rhodes and Guevara. Lio Rush says they’ve been scouting the tag team competition and asks Lashley for a title shot. Rhodes says they aren’t gonna cut in line, and they are gonna learn some respect for their elders.

MVP suggests the two teams fight it out on Collision, and whatever team wins can challenge The Hurt Syndicate at Double or Nothing. MVP says MJF will get his answer he deserves after the commercial break.

Grade: B+

The match itself was good. A dominant showing from The Hurt Syndicate that was desperately needed, in my opinion. The addition of Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara to this situation is intriguing. If they are going to unify the two sets of tag titles, I’m all for it.

Will MJF get the thumbs up from Bobby Lashley?

After the commercial break, MVP asks MJF to come to the ring. MJF doesn’t come out, and MVP sends Shelton Benjamin after him. Friedman is hiding behind Tony Khan at the production table, and Benjamin brings him out to the ring.

The Hurt Syndicate gives MJF his three thumbs up and seemingly lets him into the group. MJF is very excited and hugs Lashley. MVP says next week there will be an official contract signing to bring Friedman into the group. I smell something fishy.

AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Four-Way: Timeless Toni Storm (w/ Luther) vs. AZM vs. Skye Blue vs. Mina Shirakawa

  • The finish of the match saw Mina Shiarakwa reverse Toni Storm’s small package with one of her own to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Mina Shirakawa

After the match, it was announced that Shirakawa would get her title shot at Double or Nothing. Mercedes Mone attacks AZM on the stage, but Jamie Hayter attacks Mercedes. Security comes out and separates them.

Grade: B+

Another fun match. I expected Toni Storm to lose here so we could establish her challenger for Double or Nothing. I’m surprised Storm took the pinfall, but you can’t be undefeated in eliminator matches forever.

Is Mark Sterling a credible lawyer?

MVP and MJF are backstage with Renee Paquette. MJF says he’s gonna have his lawyer, Mark Sterling, look over the contract for next week. MVP seems a bit annoyed at first, but lets it go quickly, and they walk off together.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring with Nigel McGuinness. McGuinness calls out Daniel Garcia to apologize for getting involved in his match last week on Collision. Garcia says he can keep his apology and did exactly what he was supposed to do after he was disrespected. Garcia says he’s going to fight FTR with or without him, but it would be an honor for him to have Nigel stand at his side and fight FTR with him.

This brings out Stokely Hathaway, who runs down both men and says that FTR isn’t here tonight, but he’s there to speak on their behalf. Hathaway says what McGuinness did last week was reprehensible and wants to know what his problem is.

McGuinness gives Hathaway a half-hearted apology. Hathaway says his punishment will be getting into an official match with FTR. McGuinness isn’t interested in the match and says FTR would kill them. Garcia tries to hype Nigel up to accept the challenge. Hathaway interrupts and runs down McGuinness, and when it looks like he’s gonna be attacked, McGuinness and Garcia are jumped from behind by FTR.

FTR tries to hit McGuinness with a spike piledriver, but Daddy Magic hits the ring with a crowbar and sends them running.

AEW World Championship Steel Cage match: Jon Moxley (c) (w/ Marina Shafir) vs. Samoa Joe

  • The finish of the match saw Gabe Kidd toss Jon Moxley the briefcase, which he hit Samoa Joe with to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still AEW World Champion, Jon Moxley

Grade: B+

After the match, Kidd and the Death Riders attack Powerhouse Hobbs. The Young Bucks make their way to the ring. Nicholas tries to shake Moxley’s hand, but before he can, Kenny Omega comes out and attacks the Death Riders, but before he can get to the ring, Okada attacks him from behind and tosses him into the ring.

The Young Bucks bring the cage back down as they attack Omega and Joe. Swerve Strickland comes up and climbs the cage, hitting the Swerve Stomp on top of everyone as the Bucks raise the cage to run away from Swerve. Strickland challenges the Death Riders and the Young Bucks to Anarchy in the Arena as AEW Dynamite goes off the air.

AEW Dynamite Review:

Another very good show from AEW. There wasn’t a bad match on the show, and while I thought the stuff between The Hurt Syndicate and MJF was way too telegraphed for my liking, it was still entertaining. We don’t get a ton of cage matches in AEW, so when we get one on TV for a championship, it’s obviously a special night.

Grade: B+
