AEW is bringing back Dynamite: Beach Break next week, and Skye Blue is making her big return on the show.
Skye Blue has been out of action since July 20, 2024, after suffering a broken ankle during a match against Hikaru Shida on AEW Collison. Blue has remained absent from AEW TV since then. After a lengthy absence, Skye Blue is on her way back to All Elite Wrestling.
Her return was officially announced during a special vignette on AEW Collision’s Thursday episode. It was revealed that she will make her in-ring comeback at Dynamite: Beach Break in her hometown of Chicago on Wednesday, May 14.
In the vignette, Skye Blue said, “Next week, Beach Break. AEW is back in Chicago, and so am I. I’m back, and I’m a violent little thing.”
It will be interesting to see who Skye targets in her return after a 10-month absence. On Collision, Toni Storm laid out a challenge for another title eliminator bout in her show-opening promo. Will Skye will set her sights on Storm following her return? Only time will tell.
AEW star Skye Blue on her match against Mercedes Moné
Mercedes Moné made a significant impact when she arrived in AEW last year. In her debut match, she defeated her longtime rival Willow Nightingale to win the AEW TBS Championship. Moné defended her title for the first time on AEW Dynamite against Skye Blue on May 29, 2024, where she secured the victory.
During an interview on the Good Karma Wrestling podcast, Skye Blue reflected on the match and shared her thoughts on facing the former WWE Superstar.
“It definitely sunk in afterward like… Because I didn’t know until the day I got to the building that day that I was wrestling Mercedes,” Skye Blue revealed. “And when I was told I’m like, ‘No, I’m not,’ and they are like, ‘Yeah, you are wrestling…’ ‘Nope. there is no way.’
“And they are like, ‘Skye, you are wrestling Mercedes today,’ and it was just like… I don’t know. The light bulb kind of went off like… That I did it. That High School me sitting in Math class watching her matches, and Toni Storm’s matches, and Ruby Soho’s matches. It’s like, now I’m wrestling all of them. And I’m one of them.”
