AEW Dynamite Results:

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite kicks off with Hangman Page making his way to the ring to speak to the crowd. Hangman says he’s not sure he understands after everything he’s done why the fans still cheer for him, but he wants to let them know that it does make a difference, and thanks them.

Page says the last two years for him have been some kind of special hell, and after what happened to his family, he wanted justice, and he got it. Page reflects on his rivalry with Swerve Strickland and says that after it was done, he felt nothing. Hangman says that since he couldn’t find the closure, he raised hell on others, but all that did was tear down everyone around him.

Page says he will never forget what Swerve did to him, and he’ll likely never forgive him, but he has to put it behind him. Hangman says that at that point, he decided to enter the Owen Hart Cup, and now he’s in the finals against Will Ospreay.

Will Ospreay has something to say…

This brings out Will Ospreay and the crowd chants holy sh*t as they face off. Will Ospreay apologizes for interrupting his therapy session. Ospreay says it’s a pleasure to finally meet the Hangman. Ospreay says he understands how much this match means to him. Will says one of his favorite moments in wrestling is what he did with the Dark Order.

Will Ospreay puts over Hangman’s championship win, but how everything changed for him after he lost it. Ospreay points out that after Hangman beat Fletcher last week, he smiled again. Will says he wants Hangman to beat his demons and go back to being the main character, but at Double or Nothing, he’s not losing.

Ospreay runs down everyone Page has affected as of late, including his friend Swerve Strickland. Ospreay understands it’s about Hangman’s redemption, but this match isn’t about that. It’s about Ospreay’s ascension. The two men go face to face, but before anything can happen, the Don Callis Family takes the stage.

Don Callis says Will Ospreay continues to show him how stupid he is. Callis says the stupidest day of Will’s life is when he left the Don Callis Family. Callis says Hangman is a violent, mentally unstable sociopath who put his best friend in a nursing home. Ospreay says to send two men down and face each other. Page is upset that Ospreay held him back, and they stare down. Callis says if Page doesn’t have a breakdown by next week, they will have a tag match next week at Beach Break.

FTR and Stokely Hathaway confront Tony Schiavone

At ringside, FTR and Stokely confront Tony Schiavone at the commentary booth. Stokely wants to know if he has a problem with them. Hathaway runs Schiavone down until he stands up for himself and gets pushed back into his chair.

FTR shifts attention to Daniel Garcia. Cash Wheeler says Garcia turned his back on them, and tomorrow night at Collision, it’s gonna hurt them more than it’s gonna hurt him, emotionally. Dax tells Schiavone to tell Nigel McGuinness that they’ll see him tomorrow night.

Anna Jay and Harley Cameron are backstage. Cameron is hyping Jay up for her four-way match coming up next. They tease that their new tag team name is T&A (tenacity and aggression).

AEW Women’s World Championship 4-Way Eliminator Match: Timeless Toni Storm vs. Thunder Rosa vs. Penelope Ford vs. Anna Jay

  • The match saw heavy interference from Megan Bayne, but she was eventually chased off by Harley Cameron and a lead pipe. The finish of the match saw Toni Storm lock Penelope Ford in a TCM Chicken Wing to win the match via submission.

Winner: Timeless Toni Storm

After the match, Storm and Rosa raised each other’s hands and hugged.

Grade: B+

This was a very fun four-way. While Bayne’s interference became annoying, it didn’t lead to a win for Ford, so I guess that’s fine. Good match to kick off the action on tonight’s show.

They hurt people…

Lio Rush and Action Andretti make their way through the crowd as The Hurt Syndicate makes their way to the ring. MVP calls out any tag team to step up and challenge them for the AEW World Tag Team Titles. This brings out Top Flight. Darius Martin says they’ve been down on their luck lately, but they look at this as an opportunity.

Darius says they’ve been hurt before, but they keep getting back up. Dante says he knows they are the underdog in this scenario, but they’ve proven before that they can get in the ring with top tag teams and hold their own, and they know they can do it again.

This brings out MJF in street clothes, and he brutally attacks Top Flight, busting Dante open in the process. MJF powerbombs Dante on the ring apron before getting in the ring. MJF says he hurts people. Bobby Lashley smiles and tells MJF he’ll have an answer for him next week.

A message from your EVPs on AEW Dynamite

The Young Bucks and Kazuchika Okada are backstage. Okada says tonight Kevin Knight will go goodnight, bitch. Ricochet comes in, and the Young Bucks ask why he’s so eager to tag with them again. Ricochet says they have a Swerve Strickland problem, and he’ll help them take care of it tonight. The Bucks go to enter their locker room, and the Death Riders are in there waiting for them. Matthew and Nicholas enter, and Marina Shafir slams the door behind them.

Ring of Honor World Television Championship: Nick Wayne (c) (w/ The Patriarchy) vs. Rhino

  • The finish of the match saw Nick Wayne hit Rhino with the Killswitch to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Still Ring of Honor World TV Champion, Nick Wayne

After the match, Christian teased putting the title around Wayne’s waist, but dropped the title and walked out instead.

Grade: B

I saw a lot of Rhino’s last run in TNA, and this is the best he’s looked from an in-ring standpoint in quite some time. It looks like he had something to prove tonight. This was a solid match. The crowd wasn’t happy that Rhino didn’t win in his hometown, but that was to be expected.

RUSH sends a warning to Kevin Knight

RUSH says Kevin Knight cost him $100,000, and now he’ll pay for it in blood.

Speedball Mike Bailey, Mark Briscoe, and Swerve Strickland (w/ Prince Nana) vs. Ricochet and the Young Bucks

  • The finish of the match saw Matthew Jackson catch Swerve Strickland in a cradle pin to score the victory for his team.

Winners: Ricochet and the Young Bucks

Grade: A-

It wasn’t as good as the All Star 8-Man tag last night, but it was still pretty damn great. Easily my favorite thing on the show tonight so far. I’ll never complain about getting great multi-man matches like this on AEW Dynamite.

MJF is obsessed with a tournament he didn’t have the guts to enter

Renee Paquette is backstage with Will Ospreay. They are interrupted by MJF, and Ospreay wants to know what he wants. MJF says he hopes he wins the entire Owen Hart Cup. Friedman says he hopes he wins at All In, so when he gets his rematch for the AEW World Championship, it will be another easy win.

Ospreay asks why he wasn’t in the Owen Hart Cup Tournament then. MJF gets upset and tells Ospreay that when they face off again, he’ll understand why no one is on the level of the Devil. Ospreay tells him he is because he’s on another level.

After the commercial break, Renee Paquette sits down with Jamie Hayter for a sit-down interview. Hayter says this match means more to her than it does to Mercedes. Hayter says she’ll be damned if Owen Hart’s legacy is represented by Mercedes.

Jamie says she wants to get the know the real Mercedes and not the fake act that she presents on television. Hayter says she is nothing like Mercedes. Hayter says she doesn’t have Mercedes’ resume or star power, but she has integrity and truth. Jamie says this match is to prove that Mercedes isn’t untouchable in AEW.

Renee asks about Hayter’s back, and she says that she’s fine. Mercedes tries to jump Hayter from behind, but the two start to brawl backstage and end out in the arena in front of everyone. Mercedes runs away before coming back and attacking Hayter from behind and locks on the Bank Statement. Security eventually pulls her off, and they teased that Hayter’s back was hurt.

A rivalry revisited

Alicia Atout is backstage with Willow Nightingale. They are interrupted by Kris Statlander, who continues to try and apologize to Nightingale. Instead of an apology, a match is made between them for Collision tomorrow night.

RUSH attacks Kevin Knight on his way to the ring for his match with Kazuchika Okada. Speedball Mike Bailey comes out to chase RUSH off. Knight insists he’s okay to compete.

AEW Continental Championship Eliminator Match: Kazuchika Okada vs. Kevin Knight

  • The finish of the match saw Kazuchika Okada hit Kevin Knight with the Rainmaker to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Kazuchika Okada

After the match, Okada hits Knight with two more Rainmakers. He tried to hit a third, but Speedball hit the ring to make sure it didn’t happen.

Grade: A-

You can really tell how much AEW thinks of Kevin Knight that they had him get attacked before this match to explain the reason for his loss against one of the best wrestlers in the world. Despite the pre-match attack, this match was still fantastic and exceeded my expectations. Great stuff from both men. Very excited about the potential match between Okada and Speedball!

No scoops for MJF’s girlfriend

Alicia Atout tries to get an answer out of Bobby Lashley backstage about MJF’s status in The Hurt Syndicate. Lashley is advised by his legal counsel not to answer and reaffirms that he’ll give MJF his answer next week.

Samoa Joe vs. Claudio Castagnoli

  • The finish of the match saw Samoa Joe lock Claudio Castagnoli in the coquina clutch to win the match via submission.

Winner: Samoa Joe

Grade: B+

The Death Riders tried to attack Joe after the match, but Powerhouse Hobbs hit the ring with a steel chair and they beat down Castagnoli as Moxley watches on from the crowd as AEW Dynamite goes off the air.

AEW Dynamite Review:

This show has been on a hot streak lately. I honestly can’t remember the last episode of Dynamite that didn’t hit with me. This was another great show, and I don’t think Beach Break will disappoint next week either. Let’s keep the streak going!
