Karrion Kross Names The Best Opponent He’s Ever Had

Karrion Kross has gone to war with many formidable opponents over the years, but he recently named the best one of them all.

A fan recently uploaded an edit of Karrion Kross and Finn Balor’s NXT Championship match from May 25, 2021. The edit was set to the tune of “Arms of Sorrow” by Killswitch Engage. Kross responded to the video and called Balor the “best opponent I ever had.” He also said there was no one else like Balor.

“Best opponent I ever had,” Kross wrote on Instagram. “Hit harder and had more heart than most heavyweights I’ve faced who claim to be the best. Balor is a 1 of 1.”

Karrion Kross and Finn Balor have faced off a few times before

The May 25, 2021, match between Karrion Kross and Finn Balor was actually the second NXT title match between the pair. Kross and Balor also faced off at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver a month prior to the TV match. Kross beat Balor for the title at Stand & Deliver, and ultimately retained his championship in the rematch by referee’s decision.

These two matches are the only times Kross and Balor worked in singles action. The only other match they’ve had was when they teamed to challenge for the NXT Tag Team titles in March 2021, and two Royal Rumble matches in 2023 and 2024.

Karrion Kross knows his best opponent, and he also knows his next one, too. Kross is set to face off with AJ Styles on RAW, the final episode before WrestleMania 41. Kross doesn’t have a match at WrestleMania as of now. However, he’s gotten a ton of support from his fans who want to see him step in as Randy Orton’s opponent at the “Show of Shows.”

Karrion Kross commented on the groundswell of support and reacted to potentially stepping in the ring with Orton. You can read Kross’s full remarks here.
