There are a lot of memorable moments in professional wrestling. This is one of Matt Hardy’s most memorable, for better or worse.
Most moments are ones that professional wrestlers are proud of. However, there are a handful that the stars aren’t too proud of and would like to forget. TNA World Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy had one such moment. It was at the 2006 Men’s Royal Rumble match where he was being humped from behind by Viscera. Hardy recently shared the real reason why he was the one that Big Daddy V chose to embarrass at the Royal Rumble.
While speaking to Shakiel Mahjouri of SHAK Wrestling, Matt Hardy revealed the reason he was the one to get humped by Viscera. During the interview, he said it was punishment for missing a spot during The Undertaker’s iconic return at the end of the 2005 Survivor Series pay-per-view.

Matt Hardy believes the Royal Rumble spot was ‘pay back’ for a prior issue
“I think that was at the point where… There was a deal where I was supposed to be pushed pretty big. And after the Eddie Guerrero death, some things changed. And I end up being stuck in a match where in a scene that happened at the end of the show,” Matt explained. “Undertaker was coming out of a flaming coffin. And he was going to come in and beat people up. And they had sent me to the ring and Vince [McMahon] had told me to like get out of the ring.
“But I think the way that I did it, I was a little annoyed. I was supposed to be in a bigger spot. I didn’t do it the right way. I’d apologize to Undertaker and done all that. But, I think that was being paid back for it over the course of the next couple of months. And it is what it is man. That’s pro wrestling. It works in mysterious ways,” Hardy added.
