Roman Reigns looks ahead to WarGames.
Last week, “The Wiseman” Paul Heyman revealed CM Punk as the last piece of the 2024 Men’s WarGames puzzle. In doing this, Punk now joins the likes of the Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, and Sami Zayn, while the new Bloodline led by Solo Sikoa plus Bronson Reed stand on the opposing side. During a recent interview with SI Media With Jimmy Traina, Reigns assessed the layers of their upcoming WarGames match, which takes place this Saturday at WWE Survivor Series.
“There’s a lot of different variables and dynamics at play here,” Reigns said. “Just first off, to be in a match just full of your family whether you’re fighting with or against each other, it’s pretty neat. In the grand scheme, just looking from God’s perspective, it’s something I’m very blessed and very fortunate and grateful for. To be able to share the ring and have all our family see us in there together, it’s pretty neat.”
Reigns Factors In The ‘Outside Figures’ As Well
According to Reigns, while a big focus has been put on the Anoaʻi family members, he is also excited to see how the non-blood fixtures like Sami Zayn, CM Punk, and Paul Heyman will factor into the match as well.
“These are outside figures who are working in some way closer than others,” Reigns said. “I look at Paul like chosen family. Sami’s one of those guys that just slowly but surely endeared himself in and then Punk is like this crazy who knows what kind of in-law, how did this even happen. Such a ‘Who are you here with?’ Checking the guest list like hold on, how did you get in here?’
“Then another, I don’t even know if they’re categorizing him as a young talent, but someone like Bronson Reed, to kind of be pivoted and put into the showcasing and the spotlight and deliver in the capacity that he has, it’s pretty cool to bring all those things together.”
Overall, Reigns calls this battle between the original and new Bloodline “a heck of a story” to tell, one that that he says can benefit everyone involved. As Reigns points out, though, there is also some uncertainty, as the element of a live broadcast could bring forth some unexpected challenges. “That’s what makes it kind of nerve-wracking and incredibly exciting all at the same time,” Reigns said.
