5 Stars John Cena Needs To Team Up With Before He Retires

John Cena will wrestle for almost a year before he retires. The former 16-time World Champion plans to work multiple dates in 2025. There’s no word on which superstars Cena will have a program with, but a lot of them have gone public over wanting to work with WWE’s GOAT.

If WWE wants to play safe with Cena’s retirement tour, they’ll have the megastar partake in multi-man matches in addition to singles outing. Cena’s last tag team match saw him join Awesome Truth against The Judgment Day on 4/8 WWE RAW.

The Miz wants to work with John Cena

The Miz will go down in history as the first man to defeat John Cena at WrestleMania. The A-lister achieved the unthinkable way back in 2011. Both men would reignite their heated rivalry in the lead-up to WrestleMania 33, which saw Cena and then-girlfriend Nikki Bella defeat Miz and Maryse in mixed tag team action.

Miz recently said that he wants to work with John Cena one more time. Assuming Miz continues his babyface run into 2025, it would be cool to see the former WWE Champion team up with John Cena during the farewell tour. The A-lister and fellow tag team partner R-Truth are involved in a feud with The Judgment Day on WWE RAW.

Rey Mysterio

Speaking of Judgment Day, no man has had more run-ins with the faction than Rey Mysterio. The WWE Hall of Famer has been feuding with Judgment Day on and off since 2022. He lost his son Dominik to the faction. Carlito betrayed his trust by aligning with Judgment Day as well. Rey’s own faction, LWO, seems unable to deal with Judgment Day on their own.

At this point, the Hall of Famer should just give up and accept defeat, or he could ask John Cena for a favor against The Judgment Day. Both men have known each other for years. Rey is the only one, apart from Cena himself, who’s been a consistent babyface in WWE. They could join forces to take on Dominik and Carlito in tag-team action.

AJ Styles

AJ Styles and John Cena are no strangers to each other. As a matter of fact, Cena’s 16th world title win came at Styles’ expense way back at Royal Rumble 2017. The pair never had a bad match together as they always brought out the best in each other.

Styles has said he is willing to run it back with Cena. I, for one, would love to see the two men team up with each other instead of reigniting their old rivalry. We were close to getting this super team last year, but The Bloodline took out Styles on the road to Fastlane 2023.

CM Punk

You can’t talk about John Cena’s career without mentioning CM Punk and vice versa. Their feud in 2011 is legendary. The match at Money in the Bank that very same year would go on to define the PLE itself. Punk and Cena reunited backstage at Money in the Bank 2024 the night both men shocked the WWE Universe.

Punk said at the press conference he would love to face Cena one more time. Who wouldn’t want a one-on-one scrap between these two incredible rivals?! That said, I think a tag team program featuring Punk and Cena would do good numbers for WWE in 2025. As for who should face these two men, I’ll let you be the judge of that.

Roman Reigns could join forces with John Cena against The Bloodline

John Cena witnessed The Shield’s chaotic WWE main roster debut way back in 2012. The Shield would cost both Cena and Ryback their WWE Championship opportunity against CM Punk at Survivor Series 2012. Cena and Reigns wouldn’t have a singles match until 2017, when both men competed one-on-one at No Mercy 2017.

Their last singles match against each other saw Reigns extend his Universal Championship run at SummerSlam 2021. Cena would help Cody Rhodes end the historic run at WrestleMania XL. With Reigns poised for a babyface comeback, it would be a no-brainer for the former Big Dog to take a little help from Cena against the new Bloodline.

That way, we might get John Cena versus Jacob Fatu somewhere down the line.
