Wrestle Dynasty will mark the opening of another Forbidden Door into Japan.
The new wrestling supershow was announced during Sunday’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view. According to the teaser video, Wrestle Dynasty will take place on January 5, 2025 in the famed Tokyo Dome. The event is co-promoted by New Japan Pro-Wrestling, All Elite Wrestling, CMLL (Mexico), Ring Of Honor and STARDOM (Japan).
This new event will take place the night after Wrestle Kingdom 19, which takes place in the same venue. The New Japan Pro-Wrestling website also noted the significance of the event’s name, as it was set to be used for a cancelled event in the United States.
“In addition, the name of the tournament, “WRESTLE DYNASTY” (DYNASTY means “dynasty”), was originally announced by New Japan Pro-Wrestling as an event to be held at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday, August 22, 2020 (local time) in the US, but was cancelled due to the spread of COVID-19 at the time,” the NJPW website wrote. “This time, the tournament will be revived as a tournament at the Tokyo Dome.”
