WWE’s Rhea Ripley and AEW’s Buddy Matthews have finally tied the knot!
Ripley posted a photograph of the pair at their wedding on Instagram. Both wore an all-black outfit, mirroring their respective on-screen wrestling personas.
She posted the photo of the couple, along with the simple caption reading, “Til death. 23.06.24.“. This would indicate that the pair married on Sunday.
The couple’s wedding has been nearly two years in the making. They went public with their relationship in 2022 before announcing their engagement in August last year. Despite no longer working for the same company, their relationship has continued to flourish as they star in WWE and AEW, respectively.
Buddy Matthews was recently written off AEW TV with a storyline injury. Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that he was returning home to Australia to attend a “family event”. As it turns out, it would be quite an important family event – his wedding to Rhea Ripley!
Rhea Ripley didn’t need the time off. She is already on the shelf due to injury, and had to give up the Women’s World Championship one week after WrestleMania. With Summerslam a potential target for her to aim for a return, the pair had plenty of time to tie the knot in their home country.
Rhea Ripley Will Get Huge Return Reaction, Says Dominik Mysterio
Dominik Mysterio thinks his Judgement Day “Mami”, Rhea Ripley, will get a reaction when she returns to rival some all-time greats.
Speaking with Matt Aguilar for ComicBook Nation, Dominik Mysterio discussed Rhea Ripley’s looming return.
“She’s just so loved by the fans and the people. I’m the complete opposite. They do not like me. So there’s been times where, everything leading up to Australia [WWE Elimination Chamber], that’s why you did not see me and Rhea together because she was Finn’s get cheered in Australia, and they wanted her to get cheered in Australia. If at any point in time I was with her in Australia or anything leading up to it, she would get booed. It’s crazy, right?
“So the fact that she was already getting this insane reaction, and people were seeing her every week, and now she’s gonna be gone for a couple months, you don’t know she’s she’s gonna come back, you have no idea what’s gonna happen. Then it’s like, once you hear [her music], people are gonna freaking lose their minds. Mark my words, people are gonna talk about it as one of the biggest reactions in wrestling history.”
“I know people talk about when Punk came back, when Randy back, even when ‘Stone Cold’ came back, but I think with Rhea, there’s something a little bit more special about it,” Dominik Mysterio said. “Maybe in just being biased because she’s helped me so much along the way, and I think she’s the best. But I think that’s reaction’s gonna be massive.”
