A new report provides an update on Shane McMahon‘s status and the rumors about him potentially coming to AEW.
On a recent episode of Grilling JR, Jim Ross noted that McMahon coming to the company was so crazy that it might work. Conrad Thompson subsequently cited a friend who said that McMahon had talked to AEW wrestlers about potentially coming in. Tony Khan was then quoted as saying that he had never spoken with McMahon.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that, per sources, Shane McMahon has not been brought up “at a high level” in AEW.
Sapp writes that talent were told that McMahon appearing was not something that had been considered. The report reiterates that McMahon has spoken about it to others, and he did not seem opposed to it. However, prior to this week, it had not been a topic of conversation in AEW.
Shane McMahon last appeared on WWE programming at WWE WrestleMania 39 and tore his quad in the match. Per Sapp, McMahon is no longer under contract with WWE; he does not have a legends deal or anything of the sort, though he was featured in WWE 2K24 as part of a separate agreement.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
