Teddy Long Was ‘Not Aware, But Not Surprised’ About John Laurinaitis Allegations

Teddy Long is not shocked at the claims against John Laurinaitis.

The former Johnny Ace was one of the men named in the recent lawsuit against Vince McMahon. With his position in the WWE over the years, he is heavily suspected to be involved in the controversy surrounding the former WWE Chairman.

Because of this, and other reasons, Teddy Long is not a fan.

Teddy Long spoke with Chris Van Vliet, and talked about an incident he had with Johnny Ace some years ago. He accused Laurinaitis of racism, after he asked him why there was no “Teddy Long” figure.

“I had this problem with John, it was this racism and so, uh, he told me one time I went to him and I asked him why I did not have an action figure. He said to me, he said, ‘Well, the reason you don’t have one is because we went and talked to the consumers and they said that they would buy your doll’. But I’m the general manager of SmackDown. I’m the face of the company for 9 years, but nobody will buy my doll?”.

“How can you even tell somebody that? He got me so heated, man. I had to catch myself, ’cause you had to play the game here or you’ll expose yourself. So, I just said, ‘Okay, no problem,’ and I went straight to the Undertaker and I said, ‘You ain’t going to believe what he just said to me,’ and I told that to Taker. I don’t know what Taker said to him, ’cause Taker didn’t really… well, I ain’t gonna say that because I don’t know, but anyway, I went to Taker with it and I just left it at that.”

Teddy Long continued to talk about John Laurinaitis. He was asked about if he knew about the incidents going on behind the scenes. Teddy Long replied that he was not aware, but was also not surprised when the truth came out. He then added a story about Laurinaitis sending a young wrestler to take his job.

“Not aware, but not surprised. Yeah, and then I spoke to some of the… I remember, oh, a little bit, one of the girls one time came there, I forget her name, Tiffany might have been her name. She was supposed to have been my assistant and, uh, she pulled me off, but I was trying to help her as much as I could. Anybody came in, I didn’t care. ‘What y’all wanna do?” You won’t be Teddy Long, just that simple. Now, if you wanna be my assistant, you can bring them all.

I don’t care who you bring. ‘Cause they tried it, Palmer Cannon, you remember him? Yeah, they stuck him there. They brought in Santino Marella, he was my assistant at one time. Then, when Johnny gave me the girl Tiffany, that she was my assistant at ECW. Well, I helped her so much, too. She came and pulled me off… Well, didn’t really pull me off. One day we were just talking, she said, ‘Teddy, I thank you for all your help, but don’t ever mention this,’ and I don’t care now, you know? She said, ‘But Johnny brought me in to take your job.'”
