Matt Hardy provides an update on Jeff Hardy and says he is cleared to wrestle after he previously suffered a broken nose.
Jeff Hardy sustained a broken nose during his match against Sammy Guevara at the February 14 taping of AEW Rampage. He has been sidelined ever since, and the timeline for his return has been unclear.
On the latest episode of his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, the veteran was asked whether Jeff Hardy was cleared to wrestle.
“I can let you know this,” Matt Hardy said. “Jeff had been to his doctor, and he’d seen the AEW doctor, as of a couple days ago, he is officially cleared. So he is cleared to wrestle, and he could be competing, I guess, soon. I guess he could be competing in the future any day. There’s some breaking news. Jeff Hardy’s finally cleared after getting his nose broken and his sinuses smashed.”
More on Jeff Hardy
Matt Hardy spoke with WrestleZone in March and said Jeff was “three or four more weeks” before he’s cleared to return. Jeff getting cleared indicates he met the original timeframe.
In addition to the broken nose, Jeff had been dealing with vision issues from LASIK surgery last March. Matt said that Jeff’s vision has recovered and he should be getting cleared soon.
“His vision issues are good. He had to have surgery on his nose. He had some issues with his sinuses, so he had surgery. He’s got three or four more weeks before he’ll be cleared to return.”
Matt was also asked about the potential for him and Jeff to restructure their AEW contracts so the dates lined up. He noted that Jeff has a bit more time on his due to injury, but said, “that’s just a conversation I guess we’ll have at some point.”
Matt is currently appearing on TNA television, but remains a free agent. It was recently reported by Fightful (via Fightful Select) that Jeff Hardy’s AEW contract has some time on it, but it is believed to run out sometime in the spring.
As of this writing, there is no word on when Jeff Hardy will return to AEW programming. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
