The Rock is proud of the company in the build up to WrestleMania 40.
The film star returned to the company earlier this year, originally to set up a match against Roman Reigns. However, the crowd’s reaction quickly turned him heel and forced plans to change.
The People’s Champion will now be teaming with Reigns to take on Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on night one of WrestleMania 40. He was also likely be in the corner of Reigns the next night, depending on the result of that bout.
The Rock spoke on The Will Cain Show prior to WrestleMania. He talked about how they have built a “great, compelling storyline”, and notes how well the locker room have embraced his disruptive spirit as “The Final Boss”.
“I think we have created a great, compelling storyline,” he said. “I think that we have raised the bar, and I’ve been really happy with it. The thing that’s been really gratifying, is two things. Number one; the fans and the embracing of ‘The Final Boss’. This version, this Rock 10.0 version. But also, all the guys and girls in the locker room. I do come in, admittedly, I’m a disruptive spirit. I like to disrupt things when I come in and I like to raise all the ships with the tide. But the locker room has been really tremendous.
The Rock Compared Cody Rhodes And Seth Rollins To Luke Skywalker And The Joker
Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Rock compared his WrestleMania opponents to two of cinema’s greatest characters. He likened Rhodes and Rollins to Luke Skywalker and the Joker, calling them “unique” and “one-of-a-kind”.
“Do I think that’s what’s gonna do down? I know that’s what’s gonna go down,” The Rock said. “You have a guy named Cody Rhodes. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, they’re both bad-asses in their own right. I liken Cody Rhodes to Luke Skywalker, and I liken Seth Rollins to The Joker. So these guys are really unique, kind of crazy guys. But at the end of the day, there can only be one, and when is only one, you have The Tribal Chief and you have The Final Boss.
“So I have the pleasure of getting back into the ring. I’ve been working my ass off. I’ve been working hard, he’s been working with me, but I cannot wait. The whole idea to bring us all together, and Roman and I together like this, was just, what can we do to create a main event for WrestleMania that we could say is the biggest WrestleMania of all time, and so here we are.”
