Gisele Shaw is proud of how TNA Wrestling promotes diversity and equality.
TNA Wrestling’s Gisele Shaw recently sat down with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. When asked for her thoughts on the company, including LGBTQIA representatives on their shows, Shaw said she believes TNA is very diverse and promotes equality.
“I feel like at IMPACT Wrestling, TNA Wrestling, everyone is so diverse,” Gisele Shaw said. “The company is so diverse. They really promote diversity and equality. That’s why they gave the Knockouts the platform that other companies didn’t way back when.
“They’re very forward-thinking, and it’s great that me being a trans-woman is just being put on the back burner because I feel like that’s not really the main thing about me. I’m a wrestler, first and foremost. Being a trans woman is just a part of me; that’s not who I am. So I feel like people now are realizing that if they want to judge me, they’re judging me by the body of work that I’m doing and not just for who I am.”
Gisele Shaw sees herself as a role model
When asked if she looks at herself as a role model in terms of motivating talent and showing people that TNA is the right place to join, Shaw believes she is and that she’s a good representative for the company.
“Of course, I feel like when you’re at the company or any company that you’re in, you are representing the brand; you’re a representative of the company,” Gisele Shaw said. “So I feel like whatever you do, when you step outside of the company if you’re doing the independent scene, that reflects to the company.
“So I think it’s really important that you treat them the way you want to be treated. And I feel like it’s not just a company thing. It’s more of just like a personal thing. I want to motivate people and empower people. And hopefully push them to their limits that they’re like, ‘Oh my gosh. That really lit a fire under me. I want to perform at that level constantly.’
“And I feel like that’s my goal in wrestling. I just hope that I leave a mark, other than the fact that it’s like, okay, like she’s the first trans-woman who was signed with IMPACT Wrestling and to TNA Wrestling. And I think that should just be a part of my legacy. Hopefully, when I’m done with wrestling, it’s more of just, ‘She was great to work with, and she just pushed me to my limits.'”
