Wrestling fans now have access to the official first look of the The Iron Claw film.
The Iron Claw, a biographical sports film depicting the rise and fall of the Von Erichs, will be released in theaters later this month. Before The Iron Claw’s premieres, A24 has now unveiled the official first look at the film, via YouTube, featuring footage from behind-the-scenes. Three of the film’s top cast members were also included in the video — that being Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, and Harris Dickinson.
Jeremy Allen White, who portrays Kerry Von Erich in the movie, noted that their pre-film wrestling training was “demanding.” Through the process of training and filming, though, White now feels closely bonded with Dickinson and Efron, describing their relationship as a “brotherhood.”
Efron, who portrays Kevin Von Erich in the film, recalled a moment in which he completed a high jump into the ring and landed down on his opponent “super hard.” Upon looking up at the crowd, Efron remembered hearing a man exclaim, “Oh, now you’re flying, boy!”
Per the A24 website, The Iron Claw’s official description is as follows:
“The true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who made history in the intensely competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s. Through tragedy and triumph, under the shadow of their domineering father and coach, the brothers seek larger-than-life immortality on the biggest stage in sports.”
Some early access screenings will be available on December 13 ahead of the film’s official theater release on Friday, December 22.
