For several years, the Black and Gold brand of WWE has been the developmental ground for young and upcoming talent. The General Manager of the show is former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Shawn Michaels.
Recently, Michaels was the special guest on Fox 61 News. The WWE Hall of Famer was there to promote the upcoming NXT Deadline Premium Live Event. During the interview, Shawn Michaels shared what excited him most about being the General Manager of the Black and Gold brand.
“Honestly, it’s again, working with all the young men and women that come through here again. For me, this is the best part. It’s when it’s fun, it’s all about passion and learning and growing. The opportunity to take risks, make some mistakes. The learning aspect of this job to me is so fun. And even at 58, I continue to learn new things because it’s an ever-evolving, ever-changing business. And to get them young… coming in the door is when it’s all very exciting. So, for me, it’s a hug, it’s a wonderful excuse, you know, not to ever have to grow up. And that o works for me. Anybody that knows me, that is right down my ally,” Shawn Michaels said.
Shawn Michaels reacts to CM Punk’s return to WWE
The Heartbreak Kid was a special guest on Pete Rosenberg’s Cheap Heat podcast. During the show, he shared his thoughts on the epic return of the Second City Saint CM Punk.
“Like everybody else, [I was] happy, thrilled, holy cow. I got asked a couple of months ago, ‘Well if you had a chance to use him, would you?’ Yeah, who wouldn’t? I understand business, I wasn’t always the most popular guy with people, but I was really good at my job. That’s one of the reasons I’ve had one here in the WWE for almost 40 years. Again, I’m dependable and I’m good at my job. I think if you are that, there is always an opportunity here, especially if you want one.
“I’m happy for him, I’m happy for the company. I’m happy for the WWE fanbase, the WWE Universe. Stories like this are always fantastic. Even if they’re controversial, that’s part of what makes them fantastic. Look, I don’t always know what’s going on. Truth be told, I don’t think sometimes they know what’s going on. Unpredictability is just that, unpredictable. That’s what makes this job so fantastic and so unique, unlike anything else. That’s why we’ve continued to thrive for 40-plus years.”
