Maria Kanellis is one of the most popular managers in the world of professional wrestling. She recently shared a few words on still being able to be a part of Ring of Honor.
The self-proclaimed First Lady of Professional Wrestling has been part of the industry for nearly two decades. She kicked off her wrestling career in the biggest promotion in the world, WWE. Her initial run with the company was from 2004 to 2010. During her run, she was a backstage interviewer, turned ring announcer, and finally entered the squared circle as a wrestler.
Kanellis has been part of multiple promotions following her departure from WWE in 2010. She has competed in IMPACT Wrestling, Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and other promotions in and around the Independent Circuit. Kanellis is a former Knockouts Champion and a 24/7 Champion as well.
She made a return to the Stamford-based promotion back in 2017. Kanellis showed up along with her husband, Mike Bennett. The two had a short run in the promotion and then were released from the company. After which, they returned to Ring of Honor.
Maria Kanellis took to Twitter to share a heartfelt message thanking and appreciating the Tony Khan-led promotion.
“Super proud to be a part of @ringofhonor Happy to be a part of Team Underdog that shows up and stays late. I fell in love with ROH back in 2006 and remain passionate about the effect of the underground brand on the entire industry,” Mike Kanellis tweeted.
Kanellis, her husband, and Matt Taven are now part of AEW and ROH as the Kingdom.
