MJF’s Greatest AEW Matches

No one is on the level of the Devil.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman is undoubtedly one of the top stars in All Elite Wrestling. Throughout his run in the Tony Khan-led promotion, MJF has had some memorable feuds and as a result, has had great matches.

Let’s take a look at some of his greatest matches in his AEW career.

MJF vs. CM Punk (Dog Collar Match)

The rivalry between CM Punk and the Salt of the Earth was one of the biggest rivalries for The Second City Saint during his short stint in AEW. The two had a total of two matches. The match that ended their rivalry is at AEW Revolution 2022. The two competed in a Dog Collar Match.

It was a brutal match that turned out to be an absolute bloodbath. Friedman’s assistant at the time Wardlow turned on him and helped CM Punk. In the end, the self-proclaimed Best in the World picked up the win.

The Pinnacle vs. The Inner Circle

After the self-proclaimed Devil parted ways with Chris Jericho and The Inner Circle, he formed his own faction called The Pinnacle. The team included Wardlow, Shawn Spears, FTR, and of course MJF.

The feud between the two factions heated up to the point that they decided to settle things in a Blood & Guts match. Once again, it was a brutal match. Both teams went to war. Finally, The Pinnacle managed to pick up the win as Sammy Guevara and the others threw in the towel. After that, The Devil shoved Jericho from the top of the cage to the floor.

The Stadium Stampede match

Despite the brutal end to the Blood & Guts match, the two factions were not done with each other. Both teams went on to battle each other one more time at the AEW Double or Nothing in a Stadium Stampede match.

They had more scope for both teams to instill more punishment in their opponents. This time around, the result was not the same. The Inner Circle got the last laugh by picking up the victory.

First-time-battle – MJF vs. Adam Cole

After returning from a scary concussion injury, Adam Cole was determined to capture the AEW World Title as soon as possible. One of the main reasons was because his injury could have ended his career and thus, he wanted to win the gold before it was too late.

Cole and MJF got the opportunity to wrestle each other for the AEW World Title on an episode of Dynamite. Both stars gave everything they had. Both hit their finishers but still were unable to pick up the win. Finally, after hitting the third Boom, it seemed like the former NXT Champion was going to pick up the win but sadly the bell rang as the 60 minutes was up.

The match ended in a time-limit draw. Cole demanded they extend the match for five more minutes. But MJF refused.

A battle between best friends

After their time-limit draw, tensions between the two stars had risen. But that was simmered down a bit as the two were forced to team up in the AEW Blind Eliminator Tag Team tournament.

This led to the two building a good friendship. Despite being friends the two decided to wrestle each other one more time at AEW All In. This was hands down the best match of the night. Both tried to fool the referee by paying a little tribute to the late Eddie Guerrero. Cole’s friend Roderick Strong even attempted to help Cole. But despite everything, MJF overcame all the odds and managed to successfully retain his championship.

Another match that could have made the list is a tag team match. It was between the team of MJF and Adam Cole against FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
