Despite her appearance at WWE SummerSlam, Dakota Kai won’t be returning to the ring soon.
At WWE SummerSlam, IYO SKY cashed in her Money in the Bank contract and won the WWE Women’s Championship. After the bell, she celebrated with Bayley and Dakota Kai, her Damage CTRL stablemates. Kai has been sidelined since the May 12 episode of WWE SmackDown, and she has been recovering from surgery on her torn ACL.
During the WWE SummerSlam post-show press conference, Stephanie Hypes of Ten Count Media asked Kai whether her appearance meant she was back.
“I came because this is such a big moment for her and us as a group, Kai said. “I’m still a ways away from being in-ring cleared. But I had to be here for her tonight. This is a crazy accomplishment for her, representing us as Damage CTRL. But yeah, 2024’s about to be crazy. We’re getting there. I’m squatting heavy. I’m doing some sled pushes and stuff. We’re good.”
