WWE hopes to have Drew McIntyre back in time for Money In The Bank next month but it’s currently unclear if that will happen.
According to a new report from PWInsider.com, there’s been a push within WWE creative to get Drew McIntyre back in storylines in time for Money In The Bank weekend. It was noted that sources claim WWE pitched ideas for McIntyre’s return in meetings last week.
The general belief is that McIntyre won’t be back until both sides can agree on how he’ll be used on WWE TV moving forward. McIntyre’s current deal expires sometime in early 2024, and one of the reported holdups is related to how he’ll be used in meaningful storylines moving forward.
There’s been no movement on McIntyre signing a new deal yet. It’s been speculated that McIntyre doesn’t want to be left “aimlessly floating” during the remainder of his existing deal when he’s already proven his value in the past. It’s believed that unless McIntyre and WWE agree on a meaningful way to use him on TV, he won’t return to WWE programming.
Drew McIntyre has not been on WWE TV since WrestleMania 39 when he competed in an Intercontinental Title Triple Threat match against Gunther and Sheamus. Despite his absence, he was drafted to the WWE RAW brand in this year’s draft.
WWE Money In The Bank takes place on July 1 at The O2 Arena in London, England.
