Tommy Dreamer is one of the most legendary figures in wrestling history. He is hoping to get honored as such with a WWE Hall of Fame induction sooner rather than later.
Speaking to PWMania.com, Dreamer was asked whether or not he’d want to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Dreamer quickly said yes, and that it would be an honor to be inducted in any Hall of Fame. He went on to note that since WrestleMania 40 is in Philadelphia — the home of ECW — that it’d be a great place to be inducted.
“Any Hall of Fame is an honor,” said Dreamer. “Would love to, absolutely. It’s a great honor to be recognized for your body of work. Hey, WrestleMania, is in Philly. I would love it. If it doesn’t happen, not going to be devastated. When you have love-appreciation, and by your peers, that’s as good as well. The other part of it is the Hall of Fame is a show. It does mean a lot though. And to answer your question, yes.”
During his 10+ years of wrestling for WWE, Dreamer became a household name and a fan-favorite. During his initial run with WWE from 2001-10, Dreamer held numerous championships, including the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, the WWE Hardcore Championship, and the ECW World Tag Team Championships.
Tommy Dreamer recently spoke with WrestleZone ahead of IMPACT’s Rebellion pay-per-view on April 16. Dreamer will lead his team against Bully Ray’s squad in a Hardcore War match on the show.
Dreamer noted how he originally tried to get a cage for the match, then recalled another memorable moment from his own history at the venue.
“So, a Hardcore War is basically a WarGames without a cage. [I] was trying to get a cage, but I don’t think it could fit in the venue. These are things that you deal with when you work with different types of venues and ceilings and all that stuff, but I’ve been a part of a couple of them. I was actually in one in that very same building. I remember this amazing moment [in a No Disqualification match in April 2019] where Fallah Bahh had to choose to squish the guy in the corner, but he had to run across the ring that had Legos and thumbtacks in them, and he’s barefoot.
“It’s the proverbial ‘Die Hard’ moment. ‘I have to do something to save my life. I just shoot up the bad guys. But then I got to run across glass or else I’m going to get killed.’ Even when I still see Fallah Bahh, he’d be like, ‘Dude, those freaking Legos hurt.’ I think we can all relate to stepping on a dog toy, or a child’s toy in our own home, barefoot. There’s a guy who did it barefoot as well. I don’t think a lot of people land in all these items that we do.”
IMPACT Rebellion takes place on Sunday, April 16 and it is available for purchase on FITE.
