Court Bauer is trying to channel some of that ECW magic for Major League Wrestling.
Major League Wrestling owner Court Bauer was a recent guest on Talk is Jericho to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked how he feels about booking weekly television in primetime to keep an audience coming back, Bauer is hopeful that their authentic product with some ECW mojo will keep the fans coming back.
“I think our thing is going to try to lean into being authentic channeling. I think maybe some of that ECW Mojo, we can’t have that Big Time Square entrance set production,” Court Bauer said. “First of all, we’d be competing against those that have a massive budget. So trying to do something a little bit more raw, a little bit more immersive.
“Hey, we’re in the old ECW arena, the cathedral violence itself, so to be at the 2300 arena and have some of the people that did ECW’s production involved. I think we’re trying to have some of that connectivity to that DNA. When MLW started way back in 2002, before we took a break, that’s what it was. We had guys like Raven in front of the camera guys like Charlie Prizzi, who was head of production behind it. And Joey Styles originally announced it for us, so a lot of that is we see a little bit of that in the product today.”
