MLW Fusion Results – January 12, 2023
MLW Fusion kicked off with the return of Cesar Duran. He said MLW came to him for help, and that they needed him. But now he’s going back to run the Azteca Lucha brand instead. He warns the fans to just wait before dropping the microphone and walking out.
Lince Dorado defeated Shun Skywalker to become the new MLW World Middleweight Champion
- Lince Dorado hits a top rope shooting star press to secure the pinfall victory and win the title.
Dorado was interviewed after the match on the stage and said he was in front of his friends and family and that everyone who means something to him is there in the building tonight. Dorado acknowledged that he died in the ring in 2007 but stands there today in that same venue as the MLW World Middleweight Champion.
For those unfamiliar, Dorado is referencing a scary incident that took place at a Chikara Pro show in November 2007 where he snapped his neck off a bad move, and at the time there was fear that he had been paralyzed. So to come full circle at this moment is clearly a special moment for him.
After the promo, Cesar Duran came out with a bottle of champagne and tried to recruit him to Azteca Lucha as the two men walked backstage together.
They cut to the back with The Bomaye Fight Club, and Alex Kane is talking about all the places across the world that want to host The Opera Cup Tournament. Before he makes any type of announcement, Cesar Duran approaches the trio and proposes the idea of The Opera Cup happening in Mexico. They all scream Bomaye several times before the group walks off leaving Duran alone with his thoughts.
There was yet another Cesar Duran segment. Are you starting to notice a pattern? He announces that he’s signed MLW World Women’s Featherweight Champion Taya Valkyrie to Azteca Lucha. Valkryie appears and confirms his statement talking about how the two of them go way back.
It was announced that Taya Valkyrie would defend her MLW World Women’s Featherweight Championship next week against Trish Adora.
They go on to reveal that the negotiations between EJ Nduka and Major League Wrestling are ongoing as it pertains to his Last Man Standing match for the MLW World Heavyweight Championship and hope to have it resolved in the days ahead.
Another match was announced for next week with Jacob Fatu taking on Ben-K, and Cesar Duran will announce his latest signing to Azteca Lucha.
