Buddy Matthews has seemingly responded to the rumors surrounding his AEW status, and a new report offers more information about the situation.
Previous reports indicated that Malakai Black, Matthews and King’s stablemate in the House of Black, had obtained his conditional release from AEW, but he debunked these rumors during a stream on Instagram. More information is available here.
Fightful Select had reported that Matthews might be on his way out of AEW, or at least taking some time away, though a subsequent report cited an AEW source who believed that he and Malakai Black would return to the company at some point soon.
In an update, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the time period in which Matthews had previously been absent from the company was due to him returning to Australia to take care of paperwork related to his work visa in order to continue performing in the United States. This is normal for all foreign-born wrestlers, as they must do the same thing when their visas are about to expire.
Matthews also seemingly commented on the rumors on September 25, using a GIF to note that they were fake.
