Toni Storm doesn’t exactly like the “interim” part of her AEW Women’s Championship win.
During a media scrum after AEW All Out, Toni Storm spoke to the press about her Interim AEW Women’s Championship win on the show. Storm said that the interim part of her title isn’t ideal, but when Thunder Rosa is done being injured she will beat her and become the undisputed title holder.
“I mean it’s not ideal. But Thunder Rosa says she’s injured, okay. So when she says she’s not injured,” Storm noted, “she can come back and lose to me, and that’ll be the end of that.”
“I guess that’s a statement. That is a statement from the champ right there,” Tony Khan added. “I’d say we’re coming of a great summer with an interim world champion, and I know there’s a lot of tough competition in that locker room for you, and every time you’re in the ring, you give it a great fight. That reminds me of the person who held the interim tag last time because I have to say, you could not ask for a better professional wrestler, a more professional person or a better wrestler than the Interim World Champion AEW just had. Now, the person holding the interim title, I can say the same things about. I could not ask for a better professional to come into this company, to this locker room, to elevate this company, and what a pro wrestler Toni Storm is, and what a professional indeed you are. What an honor it is to work with you, thank you.”
“Thank you, that means a lot,” Storm replied. “I just wanna say, a huge thank you to Tony Khan and the Khan family and All Elite Wrestling because, sorry to just lay this all on you guys, in January, I had no job, no idea what I was gonna do. I walked away from everything I thought was normal in the world, and Tony Khan jumped into my life and gave me an opportunity to enjoy what I love again and really find my passion again, and a chance at survival, you know. This is all just a bonus because I didn’t even know I was gonna have a job, so thank you.”
Storm was asked about the fact that she was teaming up with Thunder Rosa, and she said the title win definitely presents an odd dynamic.
“It’s kind of awkward because whilst this has all been going on, me and Thunder have formed I guess kind of a friendship, and we form quite a nice team. But I guess I want her to know that I’m most just going to sit in her corner and cheer for her and be her little friend. I came to win championships, I didn’t come here to make friends. I’ll be cool, and I’ll be civil, but when she comes back, I’m gonna whoop her ass.”
