Had Triple H and WWE not come calling, Karrion Kross might have eventually entered another field of combat sports.
The former NXT Champion was released by WWE on November 4, 2021, after an inconsistent run on RAW. He subsequently returned to the independent scene, and the company brought him back several months later. He appeared on the August 5 edition of WWE SmackDown and attacked Drew McIntyre.
Kross and Scarlett were the most recent guests on WWE After The Bell with Corey Graves to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about his time away, Kross spoke about the multiple offers he had on the table before WWE called to bring him and Scarlett back into the fold. He described how he almost took a three-fight deal with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, among other options. Kross also stated that some of these possibilities got pushed back due to delays, so the timing for his return worked out perfectly.
“Here’s some breaking news,” Kross said. “So Daniel Gracie is one of our head instructors for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu; he was encouraging me to relocate to Philadelphia to fight in UFC. And on top of that, while that was going on, I was speaking with David Feldman from Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, and I was on the verge of taking the three-fight deal. And then on top of that, we were getting involved with television projects, and movies and stuff like that. And it’s kind of funny how it all worked out because it kept getting pushed back for delays and had not, and we signed on. There’s a really good chance we may have not been able to come back when we got the call.”
