Tony Khan recently teased a potential supershow where the stars of Ring of Honor and All Elite Wrestling would come together.
is the owner of ROH and he is the owner, president and CEO of AEW. Fans have already seen plenty of overlap between the companies under Khan’s leadership; FTR faced The Briscoes at ROH Supercard of Honor, and Minoru Suzuki faced Samoa Joe on AEW Dynamite. Plus, Jonathan Gresham defended the ROH World Championship at AEW Battle of the Belts II.
During an appearance on My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox, when asked about potentially seeing CM Punk and Bryan Danielson wrestle on ROH programming, Khan noted that it could be possible. But with all the stars in both AEW and ROH, he stated that there would be a day when it’d make sense for them to compete on the same show.
“Bryan Danielson and CM Punk are two of the greatest wrestlers in the world,” said Khan. “I would love to see then lock up at some point in AEW. In Ring of Honor, I think we’d have to wait and see. There may be a time where it would make sense for them to come. I think we have a lot of great stars in Ring of Honor right now and a lot of great stars in AEW. So I couldn’t promise that, but I think there may come a day when it would make sense for all the stars of AEW and all the stars of Ring of Honor to kind of come together as one and have a big event. But we’ll see when that time is.
In the same interview, Khan explained that having ROH champions and the titles they hold represented on AEW programming helps keep them in the spotlight, but he’s also looking forward to the return of ROH’s weekly television show. He also noted that he’s been having conversations with WarnerMedia about ROH.
“I think it’s the best way to keep the champions and the championship belts in the spotlight and the forefront of wrestling is to have the Ring of Honor champions involved in AEW right now, as we’ve had champions from companies all over the world defending their titles, including New Japan Pro-Wrestling and AAA also,” said Khan. “So you’ve seen many championships defended in AEW and I think we’ll continue to see Ring of Honor champions in AEW. But also I’m really excited to get Ring of Honor weekly television distribution and working on those deals. I’ve had a lot of real exciting conversations with the people at WarnerMedia about the future of Ring of Honor, which I think everybody’s really excited about.
