Brock Lesnar: My Feud With Roman Reigns Is Somewhat Real Because ‘There’s Some Jealousy There’

Brock Lesnar aims to cement his status as the true beast in WWE at WrestleMania 38 Night Two.

Lesnar, the WWE Champion, will face Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a championship unification bout on Sunday night. This contest is being billed as the biggest WrestleMania match of all time, and it will be the culmination of a feud that dates back to their first encounter in 2014.

In an interview with ESPN, Lesnar previewed the match and discussed how the rivalry is personal because it is somewhat based in reality. He noted that “there is some jealousy”, given the way he was a Paul Heyman Guy before his former manager aligned with Reigns.

“I think there is a lot of passion in this storyline, and with Roman and Paul, because it is somewhat real,” said Lesnar. “Paul Heyman, I was a Paul Heyman Guy for 18 years. Paul, when I started in this company, pulled me aside and took me under his wing, and [saw] greatness in me. And [he] helped me get to where I am today. And then to have him stab me in the back and get paired up with Roman Reigns and to have those two as a tag team to try to make my life as miserable as possible, it’s passion, and it’s real. It is a real storyline because there is some jealousy there for me.”

“The Beast Incarnate” then discussed how the titles are meaningful to his legacy in WWE, and he views having the ability to unify them as an accomplishment that could go down as one of his greatest accolades.

“Right now, it’s still the calm before the storm,” said Lesnar. “And these championships are part of my legacy. These are the things that you can hang your hat on at the end of the day. And for me to unify these two belts is gonna be one of the great accolades in my career.”

Lesnar went on to emphasize how this match is the “top of the mountain”, given the storyline’s personal nature, Reigns’ status as a true competitor to him, and his bond with Heyman. He then stated that, as a grizzled veteran, high-profile matches aren’t new to him, but the magnitude of the championship unification is the difference. Still, he fully intends to emerge victorious and defeat Reigns once and for all.

“I’ve been in the squared circle for 25 years,” said Lesnar. “I’m seasoned, I’m a veteran, I’m grizzled. This isn’t new to Brock Lesnar. This isn’t something new that I just wake up and do. This is my life. That’s what’s different. To unify these titles and solidify that I am The Beast.”

Fans won’t have to wait too much longer to see this bout, as Lesnar and Reigns will close the show on Sunday night.
