Brock Lesnar: I Retired After WWE WrestleMania 36, But ‘Cha-Ching’ Brought Me Back

Brock Lesnar once again reigns supreme as the WWE Champion, and he’s heading into a bout that’s being billed as the biggest WrestleMania match of all time.

“The Beast Incarnate” has been on a remarkable journey since his last WrestleMania match; after he lost the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36, he took more than a year away from the wrestling business.

During an appearance on The Michael Kay Show, Lesnar noted that he retired after this defeat because his contract was up and he was satisfied with the “full circle” conclusion of his career.

“When I was younger, I thought I want to retire when I’m 40,” said Lesnar. “And I actually retired when COVID hit and my contract was up in 2020, I think. So full circle Brock Lesnar story, had my first pro wrestling in Hamil. Minnesota in a garage in front of no people. And 20 years later, I’m the WWE Heavyweight Champion of the world, had my wrestling match in a warehouse in front of no people. So 20 years, full cycle, full revolution. And I’m alright cool that’s, I’m out. My contract was up.”

When asked what changed his mind and brought him back, “The Beast Incarnate” had a succinct answer.

“Cha-ching,” said Lesnar.

Now that he’s back, it’s fair to wonder what Lesnar’s future holds, but the WWE Champion is focused on the present because he’s enjoying his storyline with Reigns. He noted that the passion within the feud has drawn him in.

“I don’t want to get ahead of myself here,” said Lesnar. “I’m excited for this match [with Reigns]. I think what’s special about what we’re in right now is that people can feel the passion, you know, getting back to Paul Heyman and Roman, but I’m not there yet. I don’t sit at home because I’m deeply invested in what’s in front of me.”

Fans can look forward to seeing Lesnar face Reigns on the second night of WWE WrestleMania 38 on April 3.
