The Street Profits have held the WWE RAW, SmackDown, and NXT Tag Team Championships, but they’ve somewhat fallen into a cold streak.
Since the duo lost the blue brand’s tag titles on January 8, 2021, the fan-favorite pair has failed to regain any gold. They’ve enjoyed some success on WWE RAW, but Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins have come up short when they’ve had the chance to win more championships. Ford is widely viewed as a future breakout star on his own, so fans continue to speculate about the team’s potential split.
In an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Phillipa Mariee, Ford made it clear that The Street Profits are focused on their goal to be the greatest tag team in the world. That being said, if the opportunity to excel as individuals comes up for either member, they won’t stand in each other’s way.
“Me and [Dawkins] always focus on the task at hand,” said Ford. “I feel like if we take our focus off this task at hand, which is being the greatest modern tag team in not just this generation, but all generations, it takes the focus off the things that we’re trying to accomplish as a tag team. But if that opportunity arises, whether it’s next year at Royal Rumble or whenever it is, we’re both not gonna rid each other from success.”
Ford and Dawkins don’t currently have a match at WWE Elimination Chamber, but they’ll certainly be paying attention to one particularly bout on the card. Bianca Belair, Ford’s wife, will compete in the Women’s Elimination Chamber match. This bout will mark the first time WWE has ever held the contest in Saudi Arabia, which is why it’ll be especially meaningful for Ford to see his wife perform at the event.
“100% support,” said Ford. “It’s such a landmark event because for one, this is the first-ever Women’s Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia. Just to see the progress throughout the years and see where we’ve come and to perform on this stage, it’s such an elite moment. We know who we are rooting are, which is the ‘EST of the WWE.'”
Alpha Academy currently reigns supreme as the RAW Tag Team Champions, so at least in the short-term future, The Street Profits will try to get the titles back from them.
