Randy Orton is a man of many talents, but ghostwriting apology letters apparently is not one of them.
WWE star Riddle recently appeared on Mark Andrews’ My Love Letter To Wrestling Podcast and recalled the time he asked Orton to help him write an apology letter to Universal Champion Roman Reigns. “The Original Bro” made some controversial comments about Reigns after WWE SummerSlam; specifically, he took issue with “The Tribal Chief” calling himself the “Needle Mover.” Riddle stated, “You’re related to The Rock. Shut up. Like, I’m not impressed, I can beat you up in a real fight. So, shut your mouth. You’re not moving needles.”
On the podcast, Riddle described how he wrote an apology for Reigns, but when he showed it to Orton, “The Viper” decided to take a different approach. But “The Original Bro” hinted that Reigns wasn’t satisfied with it, and the whole experience taught Riddle a lesson.
“The one thing I’ve learned is don’t have Randy write an apology letter for you,” said Riddle. “The other day I said some things about a gentleman that I work with, he’s on a different brand, he’s a champion, he’s a cheating one, some might say, and I said some things, things that he didn’t like. And I told Randy, I was like ‘hey, I said some things I’m pretty sure he’s not happy about, what should I say?’
“And I sent Randy the apology that I wrote for this person and he was said it was all wrong and then sent me one back. There was no apology at all but he knows this Chief better than I do, so I said okay and sent it to him and he didn’t accept it at all. I was like damn it, Randy and I’ll never ask him to do that again.”
Riddle then described how he and Randy have many things in common off-screen; though they seem like total opposites on WWE programming, they apparently have a similar sense of humor and taste in food.
“When it comes to sports entertainment, the guy gets it,” said Riddle. “I’ve learned a tremendous amount from him and it’s just awesome hanging out with Randy, if I’m being honest, he’s just really cool. He makes me laugh, I try to make him laugh and even though we’re so different on screen, but in real life, me and Randy are quite alike. We laugh at the same jokes, we like the same food, we like the same entertainment, we have a lot in common and it’s made this transition into being a team so much easier. It’s so much fun.”
Riddle and Orton remain a beloved team on WWE RAW, and “The Original Bro” has also qualified for the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match, which will be held at the premium live event on February 19.
