Orange Cassidy Hugs Adam Cole, Unofficially Hands Him First Singles Loss In AEW

Adam Cole and Orange Cassidy have been feuding for a number of weeks, and their bitter rivalry reached an explosive conclusion on the special “Beach Break” edition of AEW Dynamite.

The two foes clashed in a Lights Out Match, and from the opening bell, it was clear that Cassidy was ready to “try” on Wednesday night. He broke his own sunglasses and brought the fight to Cole. The fight spilled to the outside, and when Cole reached under the ring, he accidentally pulled the debuting Danhausen out onto the arena floor. The “Very Nice, Very Evil” one provided a temporary distraction, which allowed “Freshly Squeezed” to take control and slam Cole through a table.

But “The Panama City Playboy” regained the advantage by kicking Cassidy’s hand into the steel steps after he already it with the ring bell. By practically making Cassidy a one-armed warrior, Cole controlled the match for several minutes and used a number of weapons on his enemy. Cassidy rallied with a stunner and slammed Cole onto two chairs for a two count. Inevitably, Best Friends and the Superkliq entered the mix. Bobby Fish, Wheeler Yuta, the Young Bucks, and Trent Beretta got involved and fought with each other.

Cassidy hit an Orange Punch, and when Cole went for a low blow, he hit his opponent’s concealed steel cup. “Freshly Squeezed” hit Cole’s own Panama City Sunrise for another near fall. Cole went to the backstage area and slammed Cassidy through a table for a two count. The two men kept throwing everything they had at each other.

In the end, Cassidy grabbed Cole in a hug and dove off part of the stage, sending both men crashing through the ramp below. “Freshly Squeezed” landed on Cole, and the referee counted the pin. This loss unofficially marks Cole’s first singles loss in AEW, but it won’t count in the rankings.
