Tom Lawlor is on the open market.
Tom Lawlor, a mainstay in Major League Wrestling for the past four years, posted the following statement on Monday, confirming he is now officially a free agent:
“As of today, I am a free agent in the world of professional wrestling,” Lawlor wrote. “Thank you to @mlw @courtbauer @MSL @beINSPORTSUSA for the time & effort they put in with me. But mostly I’d like to thank the MLW staff, wrestlers past & present, and fans for the 4 years of memories! #mlw”
MLW owner Court Bauer also commented on Lawlor’s free agency status, posting the following message:
“Thank you for your tour of duty, Tom. You were a wonderful collaborator and member of the family. I look forward to your next chapter. See you on down the road, Filthy,” Bauer replied.
Tom Lawlor made his MLW debut at the league’s “One Shot” event on May 10, 2017. He is a former MLW World Heavyweight Champion, and he also won Battle Riot in 2018 and the company’s Opera Cup tournament in 2020. It’s worth noting that MLW had previously teased Lawlor leaving in November 2019, but he later signed a new agreement that same month.
If Lawlor does not re-sign with MLW this time, his last televised match (as of now) is a 2021 Opera Cup first-round loss to Davey Richards. Lawlor also worked another match at MLW’s Fightland tapings, a Casket Match against King Muertes, but it has not aired yet.
Lawlor’s most recent agreement was a two-year deal, and Fightful first reported that his contract was expiring soon. According to that report, Lawlor’s deal was set to expire before the War Chamber tapings on November 6, but the casket match was a way to write him off of MLW TV for now.
