Sasha Banks Says ‘There’s No Reason’ She Missed SummerSlam, She’d Love To Star In ‘Squid Game’ Style Thriller

Sasha Banks will tell you why she wasn’t on SummerSlam when she wants to.

Sasha Banks recently spoke with Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post and she was asked about her absence at SummerSlam, where she was originally scheduled to compete for the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair. Becky Lynch ultimately returned (and won the title from Belair in a controversial fashion), but Banks says she’s not spilling any tea on what kept her off of the show.

“There’s no reason. I’m not telling you anything. [Laughs]. You’re not Oprah. You’re not the WWE Network, you’re not getting me the views. I’m not telling you my secrets. You can read my book. You can read my documentary when I want to speak about it. Thank you very much.”

Despite Banks missing SummerSlam, she is getting another shot at the SmackDown Women’s Championship when she and Belair challenge Lynch at Crown Jewel on Thursday. Asked what it would mean to her personally to win the title, Banks said she’s keeping the title where it belongs.

“It would mean everything. I can’t let Bianca and Becky, two Raw superstars (after the draft) take my hard work, my SmackDown Women’s Championship to that show. So I definitely have to make sure that I keep that SmackDown title on ‘Friday Night SmackDown.’ And with Charlotte Flair coming into the mix on SmackDown, it’s definitely going to be a cool little rivalry that we’re gonna have.”

Sasha Banks achieved a new level of fame when she appeared on The Mandolorian last year, and she says she’s also been busy filming other content. Asked if there’s anything specific she wants to add to her resume, Banks pointed to Netflix’s breakout hit Squid Game and said she’d love to be in a Korean film one day.

“I just finished watching the ‘Squid Games’ and I’m a huge, huge fan of Korean movies. So I would love to be in a show like that just that thriller, drama, really intense show where you really don’t know what’s going to happen. And to be in a Korean movie, that’s always been one of my dreams. I would love to be in a movie one day. It could be any genre. I’m just excited to learn and do it all. I have so much time.”
