WWE Extreme Rules kicked off with a last-minute addition to the card, as the New Day took on AJ Styles, Omos, and Bobby Lashley.
The match came together on the Kickoff show when WWE Champion Big E, along with his New Day stablemates, brawled with Lashley, Styles and Omos.
When it was officially time for action, the New Day came to the ring for their second match since the trio reunited on WWE RAW.

In a potential preview of a future showdown, Big E squared off with Styles before he reignited his beef with Lashley. The two powerhouses fought for a bit, and the champion gained the upper hand. The New Day isolated Lashley, but “The All Mighty” powered his way out of trouble. Once Omos tagged in, he gained the upper hand and dominated Kingston.
Eventually, Kingston rallied and nearly tagged Big E, but Lashley took the champion out and maintained the advantage. Woods later tagged in and floored Lashley with a flurry of offense. Both teams continued to go back and forth, and in the end, Big E pinned Lashley after “The All Mighty” accidentally dropped Styles with a Spear.
