Some potentially good news for now former NXT Champion Samoa Joe.
Earlier this week, two-time NXT Champion Samoa Joe announced that he’d have to relinquish the NXT Championship due to not being medically cleared by WWE’s medical staff.
In an updated provided by PWInsider, the internal expectation is that Joe won’t be missing an extended period of time, however no timetable for his return has been confirmed.
Additionally, the report states that the decision to vacate the NXT Championship was to ‘turn a negative into a positive’ and have a new champion coronated during tonight’s ‘NXT 2.0’ reboot.
However, not necessarily everyone is excited about the rebranding of the now former black and gold brand as PWInsider continues by saying there’s a ton of ‘trepidation’ behind the scenes in NXT due to the recent round of roster cuts and major changes that the brand has been undergoing as well as talent being concerned with who’ll run the show due to Triple H recently undergoing a medical procedure due to a ‘cardiac event’.
