WWE’s NXT reboot is already undergoing changes, according to new reports.
Tonight’s NXT 2.0 reboot is already scheduled to have an impromptu NXT Championship match which will crown a new champion after Samoa Joe was forced to relinquish his title due to injury. Now, WWE’s announced Women’s Championship match for the reboot episode will not be taking place on the show.
According to a new report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select (subscription required), the match between Franky Monet and Raquel Gonzalez will no longer be taking place. As of this writing, no official reason was reported but it is stated that the company was aware of the change as of yesterday morning. It is also unclear whether or not either woman will have a role in tonight’s episode.
WWE has been promoting the reboot of NXT for several weeks now, dating back to when Nick Khan told Ariel Helwani that the brand would be undergoing changes that would coincide with their decision to no longer prioritize top independent wrestling talent when scouting for new potential WWE Superstars.
