Sunday at AEW All Out, The Lucha Bros defeated The Young Bucks inside of a steel cage to capture the AEW World Tag Team Titles for the very first time.
Following the show, The Lucha Bros took part in a media scrum where they answered some questions regarding their monumental win. When asked about their special entrance at AEW All Out and their gear for this show, Rey Fenix said they wanted to showcase their Lucha libre culture:
“The inspiration is about our culture,” Rey Fenix said. “We are so proud to be Mexican, we are so proud to be luchadors, represent my country, represent my Lucha libre style, and this is the thing we always want to show everybody, which is the Lucha libre culture behind the mask. That’s very much with the entrance was what we did. Just like what is the Lucha libre culture…because we are so proud to be Mexicans.”
The Lucha Bros were asked if winning the AEW World Tag Team Titles from The Young Bucks took them to the next level, and Fenix believes that it was a significant moment for them:
“Very important point; it’s one of the best rivals we have,” Rey Fenix said. “I think [facing] The Young Bucks is the best matches the Lucha Brothers can have. We feel so…sorry, a lot of feelings. It’s incredible. It’s incredible. I don’t have the words. It’s amazing.”
Before the conclusion of the media session, The Lucha Bros took the time to put over how good The Young Bucks are and hope to face them in a hair vs. mask match somewhere down the line:
“The Young Bucks are one of the best tag teams in the world, so we feel so proud [that] we beat The Young Bucks,” Rey Fenix said. “It’s one of the greatest tag teams in the world and all the things their guys did and the history, and yeah, we beat The Young Bucks. That’s why I feel incredible.”
“In a nutshell, Penta says that The Young Bucks are not only great athletes, they’re amazing human beings,” Alex Abrahantes translated for Penta. “They’re brothers, just like [the Lucha brothers]. And they bring out the best in each other. And some time down the road, whether it’s a year, maybe two years from now, if Tony’s okay with it, they’d love to face the Young Bucks in a Hair vs. Mask Match.”
