Acey Romero has reportedly requested his release from IMPACT Wrestling.
Fightful Select first reported the news, which was later confirmed by Jon Alba of Spectrum Sports 360.
Fightful notes that IMPACT hasn’t used Romero since the April block of its weekly show. He was nearly hospitalized due to COVID-19 in May, but prior to this absence, Romero had teamed up with Larry D as XXXL. The report also clarifies that Romero is currently healthy, as he has competed at a few Limitless Wrestling shows recently.
Romero signed with IMPACT Wrestling in 2019; before he debuted for the promotion, he competed in the Casino Battle Royal at AEW’s inaugural Double or Nothing, and he also worked for Major League Wrestling from 2018-2019.
In a tweet on Monday afternoon, Romero delivered a heated message. He vowed to change “the way business is” because he’s tired of being told “that’s just pro wrestlng for you.”
I’m so sick of hearing the phrase “THAT’S JUST PRO WRESTLING FOR YOU”
I been around for 14 years and I’m so sick of hearing other adults make excuses by saying “Well that’s just pro wrestling for you”
No. Fuck that. We are adults.
We can change the way the business is..
