Former WWE Superstar Dave Bautista has a habit of making things happen through social media. His online campaign landed him the role of Drax The Destroyer in the now hit Marvel Studios franchise Guardians of the Galaxy. Now his latest idea, a buddy cop movie with Jason Momoa, sounds like it’s about to become a reality.
Just under one week ago, Dave Bautista took to social media to convey his desire to do a buddy cop movie with Jason Momoa, tweeting out:
“Just going to throw this out into the atmosphere and see what happens. Here we go… Me and Momoa in a Lethal Weapon type buddy cop movie directed by David Leitch. Ok! There it is. Now we wait,” Dave Bautista said in a tweet.
A few days later, Jason Momoa appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden, where he revealed on the show that not only is the movie with Bautista happening, but it’s going to be filmed in Hawaii.
“I’m not even going to lie to you. I’m not on Twitter, but he literally texted me about four days ago going, ‘We need to do a buddy cop film,'” Jason Momoa told James Corden. “We love each other. We obviously met on See, we’re on Dune together, and so I said, ‘Absolutely.’ and he’s like, ‘Let’s do it in Hawaii,’ and I’m like, ‘Let’s do it. I’ve got an idea,’ so, it’s off to the races now. We’re doing it.”
The film’s title or any other details aren’t known at this time, but we’re sure we’ll hear more information regarding this project in the coming months.
