Ring of Honor’s Women’s Championship Tournament is heating this summer. One of the competitors, former SHIMMER Champion, Nicole Savoy, recently chatted with Spencer Love of Love Wrestling to discuss the Swole Family, becoming one of the faces of SHIMMER, her work with Ring of Honor and AEW, her thoughts on all-female promotions, and more. Some highlights are posted below.
Savoy commented on her experience reuniting with Big Swole for the AEW Women’s Tag Team Tournament last year:
“It was quite the experience. What people don’t seem to understand is I read the comments on Twitter where they’re like, ‘oh, well, Nicole’s not like that. She doesn’t have to act that way.’ And I’m like, ‘but the Big Swole, Lil’ Swole thing? That’s just us on a regular day basis!’ We’re that outside of the ring, just goofy and silly for no reason. So to bring all of that shenanigans, or as we like to put it, Swolenanigans, into the ring, that was a lot of fun. I loved tagging with her. That was just the best. I had a good time, had a good time got a couple of suplexes in, you know, Got it out there!”
Savoy also recalled the first time she met fellow SHIMMER talent, Allison Danger:
“So when I first wrestled for Shimmer – it’s another first time for Shimmer – and I stepped off the plane, the first two people that I met that I was riding to the hotel with was Allison Danger and Jessica Havoc. They didn’t know who I was. Allison Danger’s never seen me wrestle before. I remember us going to think I was like Denny’s, and she looks at me, and I look at her, and she goes, ‘you know? So you’re from California, huh?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah,’ she goes, ‘well, Sarah came from California, and she’s an amazing wrestler. Then there’s Cheerleader Melissa, and then there’s,’ then, she starts naming off with Candice LeRae, and Davina – she’s Bailey now – and she’s like, ‘I’ve never seen you wrestle before. Good luck!’ I was just kind of like, ‘Oh, God!’
