Tama Tonga is a Bullet Club OG to a T and doesn’t necessarily agree with Kenny Omega using those two words to describe the “ex-member reunion” that’s been brewing up in AEW.
Tonga’s podcast “Tama’s Island” returned with co-host Ross Berman (also of WrestleZone mind you) to talk about some ex-Bullet Club members reuniting last week on Dynamite for the first time.
“What got me triggered, is when I heard Kenny Omega going ‘B-B-B-Bullet Club.’ You son of a bitch, you. The one guy that tried to dismantle us from the inside. Split us into two, The Elite and The Bullet Club. The guy who really tried to ruin Bullet Club is now using Bullet Club as an angle.”
That AEW reunion does happen to have fellow original member Karl Anderson in the mix, but the likes of Tonga and Bad Luck Fale have stayed put in New Japan. Finn Balor (then known as Prince Devitt) found new ground in WWE and NXT. That doesn’t mean said reunion as well as other replicated versions of The Bullet Club sit well with one of the Guerillas Of Destiny.
“How can it be a reunion if Bullet Club is still here [in NJPW]? We ain’t never went nowhere. They should have called it something else, like the ‘Ex Members’, right, the ex members reunion. Because all of y’all have gone, and when I say all of y’all, every single one that was in that different company, was indifferent other companies trying to do the same thing with Bullet Club. But they called it ‘The Club’, ‘The OC’, ‘Balor Club’. I mean, no matter what you guys try to do, you’re just not Bullet Club.
Now here you are trying it again. Now, when you’re hash tagging that and calling it Bullet Club, that’s a slap in the face to us that’s still riding with Bullet Club in Japan.”
Who knows where this AEW Elite version of Bullet Club members will lead to after last night’s Dynamite as it was Omega and Don Callis who pulled a fast one on The Young Bucks as they replaced in a six-man tag by Anderson and his Good Brother, Doc Gallows.
