On March 16, 2020, WWE hosted ‘316 Day’ on Monday Night RAW, a special night that saw “Stone Cold” Steve Austin show up and participate in a variety of events. In a recent guest appearance on the ‘Rasslin with Brandon F. Walker show’ podcast, Austin spoke about the experience, saying it wasn’t very good.
“It’s a tough time for everything but if you’re into something where you’re performing or used to doing it in front of a crowd, it sucks,” he said when speaking of the moment, which took place in an empty arena thanks to the COVID-19 lockdown that had occurred just prior (transcription via Post Wrestling’s Andrew Thompson). “I went down there and cut a promo when it first happened and I didn’t even wanna do the promo. I wanted to do an interview with Byron Saxton. But I went and did the promo for Vince [McMahon] and playing into a live crowd and it was bad material to begin with, [it] was not good at all.”
Clearly, Austin was not a fan of doing the event, or even cutting the promo that ended with him giving Byron Saxton a Stunner. With no fans in the arena to react to Austins usual antics, he was forced to improvise, and while it resulted in some funny moments, it seems as if the legendary superstar wasn’t as happy about doing it.
