On this week’s episode of WWE’s The BUMP, WWE NXT United Kingdom Champion WALTER discussed the brand’s return and his upcoming match with Ilja Dragunov. Here are some highlights:
On the return of NXT UK:
WALTER: “I think, coming back now, I think with everything set up the way it was when we returned, I think it’s gonna be a lot of steps in the right direction.”
“It was a great experience for us, taping everything, and it’s gonna be a great experience for viewers at home watching it. ”
On how he’s ready to defend the title after the hiatus:
WALTER: “Having a break, for me personally, it was, I enjoyed it, actually. It was the first time in more than ten years that I’ve had a break that long from being in the ring, and it really helped me to stay focused and focus on my health and focus on my fitness. And yeah, I think coming back, I’m the best version of myself that I’ve ever been.”
On facing Ilja Dragunov:
WALTER: “I know Illja for, I don’t know how many years. I know Illja from the point where he started out fresh in Germany, and right away when he entered, he was different from anyone else. Nobody else was that focused or putting in that passion, like his intensity is on another level. I think Illja is easily a generational talent, there is just one in a few million that you can compare to the person that Illja is.”
“Finally having to have the match happen in WWE or NXT UK is something really special to m, and I think also for Illja because every time when we’re together in the ring, it’s gonna be special. There’s, I think, nothing that can match our brutality and intensity when we’re in the ring together, and yeah, I’m looking forward to displaying this in a WWE ring.”
